Located close to the sea shore of Duart Bay, the Coach House is a lovely self-catering cottage on Mull, just a short walk from the iconic Duart Castle, seen on the headland on your approach to Mull by ferry.
It is just a short drive to the cottage from Craignure, where the ferry docks, and there is parking directly outside the house. Entering the property, a porch leads into the large open plan kitchen dining area. This is a great space to unwind and relax in while preparing a meal or enjoying a coffee. The dining area has a glass tiled wall that lets in lots of light.
Double doors lead from the dining area through to the living room, where there is a wood burning stove, television with freeview channels and DVD player, and large windows overlooking the garden with views to the hills beyond. There is also a utility room and cloakroom (with w.c and hand basin) on the ground floor, making every stay here simple and comfortable.
A staircase leads from the dining room up to a long corridor from which all the bedrooms lead off. There are also two bathrooms at either end of the corridor, each with w.c, basin and bath (and one with shower over).
There are some lovely walks from the Coach House. The 10-minute walk along the single track road to Duart Castle is superb and the position means guests will enjoy some excellent views of the sun setting in the evenings. It is also an excellent vantage for passing marine life, not to mention exploration of the castle itself and refreshments at the tearoom. A walk along the shore of Duart Bay itself is very nice too – simply head to the shore from the house and make your way along the bay towards Torosay, before returning along the road.
The nearest village of Craignure is a 10-minute drive away, where there is a shop and post office (fuel available too), swimming pool, a pub and selection of eateries and a café. Driving further afield, Tobermory and Fionnphort can both be reached within 45 minutes. Boat trips head out from these locations for whale watching tours and to Staffa and Iona (Fionnphort).
For larger groups, you can book the house in conjunction with the Studio Apartment and Kilpatrick Farmhouse which are in the same location.
