The Studio Apartment sits at the head of Duart Bay, and has fantastic views over the sea to the hills of Morven beyond, as well as the dramatic Duart Castle on its cliff top perch. Just a short distance from Craignure, with its village shop, cafe, pub and golf course, this modern studio apartment sits within a group of beautifully converted farm buildings. This is a warm, comfortable, well-equipped self-catering property, ideal for couples searching for their very own island hideaway.

The Studio offers a great base from which to view wildlife, including the many marine mammals to be seen in the Sound of Mull – dolphins, porpoises and even basking sharks swim these waters. There are also great walks to be had along the coastline of Duart Bay, made even better by being a favourite haunt of the local otters.

Parking in the courtyard, The Studio is accessed via a roomy, light covered porch. Entering the hallway, there is a toilet and single bedroom on the ground floor. The downstairs single bedroom has good sea views and is comfortably furnished, making it small but perfectly formed.

Stairs lead to the open-plan kitchen and living area. Skylights and windows make this a light and airy space that is a pleasure to be in. There is satellite television, a DVD player and wireless internet access, offering guests home-from-home, modern conveniences during their stay. The kitchen is well-equipped for self-catering, and has excellent sea views from the window above the kitchen sink. There is also a dining area by the window in the main living space – the perfect spot for a romantic meal for two.

Guests who sleep in the double bedroom will wake to great views from the windows over the sea towards the mountains of mainland Scotland. There’s also plenty of handy storage on hand so suitcases can be stowed out the way. The main bathroom is upstairs too, with a basin, toilet and bath with shower attachment.

The Studio is a building conversion and benefits from being well insulated and purpose-built. It makes for a very comfortable base for a holiday on this Isle of Mull. There is also a small private garden area with table and chairs. Any meal will be a pleasure to enjoy here, surrounded by outstanding sea views.

The location, halfway along the road to Duart Castle, is superb. A walk down to the shore will reward you with excellent views and good opportunities to see wildlife. Walking for 15 minutes will take you to the castle and Duart headland, along the single track road, which also offers outstanding, panoramic views, rocky coast and a small sandy beach. There is also a tearoom at Duart to refuel before your 15-minute stroll back to the cottage.

The Studio is an ideal snug, for those looking for a self-catering base that is centrally located for exploring all areas of the island. Please note the garage shown below the apartment in the pictures is used for storage, not cars, so the Studio is a peaceful residence.
