Willowbank is a detached self catering cottage located in the Isle of Mull’s south west, at Ardtun. Sitting above the single track road, the cottage has beautiful views over the surrounding landscape towards the Ardmeanach headland and across Loch Scridain. This rural location is ideal for those wanting to explore some of Mull’s best coastline, with some fantastic beaches within easy reach.
Willowbank sits within an enclosed garden with ample parking space for two or more cars. Entering the cottage, there is a spacious utility room with plenty of storage for belongings, a washing machine, tumble dryer, hand basin and a large freezer.
From here you enter the main ground floor open plan kitchen, living and dining area. The fitted kitchen is very well appointed, with all you need for entertaining friends and family. There is plenty of counter space and storage for groceries including a large fridge.
The living area is a stunning space beneath a vaulted ceiling and lots of natural light coming in through the windows on both sides of the room. The muted colour palette and finishing touches add to the ambience, and a stone fireplace forms a lovely focal point to the room, with a coffee table well placed for enjoying the games and books that are provided.
The dining table sits to the side of the room and the patio doors adjacent, can be opened up to lead out onto the patio area. Guests can eat alfresco, thanks to the table and chairs provided along with a good barbeque. In fact the rear patio space is another excellent feature of Willowbank, a private space and real suntrap. On days where the air is a bit cooler, there is a lean-to glass house with comfy sofa provided for you to enjoy, a great place for stargazing too!
Also on the ground floor at Willowbank you will find a double bedroom and the additional bedroom, which has a standard-sized single bed and additional standard-sized pull-out single bed available on request. Both rooms are a good size and have plenty of built-in storage for belongings. A main family bathroom adjoins the ground floor hall and is of a high standard, including a bath with shower over, basin and w.c.
Upstairs is the master double bedroom which has an en-suite shower room. This is a large room with lots of space, as well as great views and lots of natural light, thanks to the two large velux windows. The en-suite contains a shower unit, basin and w.c.
Willowbank is located a handy distance from the nearby village of Bunessan (2km), where you will find shops and a couple of places to eat. Fionnphort is just over a fifteen minute drive away, and is the jumping off point for trips to Iona, as well as boat trips to Staffa and the Treshnish Isles.
The Ross of Mull is renowned for its outstanding natural beauty, diverse habitats, wildlife and stunning coastline to explore. In fact this area of the Isle of Mull has the largest number of sandy beaches and bays. Further afield you can explore the rugged cliffs at Carsaig, as well as central Mull’s mountains.
All in all, a great base for your holiday!
Living Room: The sitting room and dining room are combined at Willowbank in a lovely space filled with natural light beneath a vaulted ceiling. Comfortable sofas, a multi fuel stove, television with freesat channels and DVD player (with selection of DVDs). iPad docking system and Bluetooth speakers.
Kitchen: The fully fitted kitchen has an electric cooker with electric hob, microwave, larder fridge, baking equipment, dishwasher, kettle and toaster and Delonghi espresso machine. Store cupboard basics (oil/salt/pepper) are provided. The washing machine, tumble dryer and full size freezer are housed in the separate utility room in the house.
Bedrooms: There are two double bedrooms and a further bedroom with a standard single bed and extra pull-out single bed (available on request) at Willowbank. The master double is on the first floor and has a king-sized bed and en-suite shower room. The second double bedroom has a standard sized double bed. Hair dryer provided.
Bathrooms: There are two bathrooms in the property. The en-suite for the master bedroom has a shower unit, basin and w.c. The family bathroom on the ground floor has a bath with shower over, basin and w.c.
Garden: The rear garden is fenced with a patio area. Outdoor table and chairs and barbecue provided. There is also a glazed lean-to with seating and drying space.
Heating: Electric wall mounted heaters throughout and a multi fuel stove in the living area.
Multi Fuel Stove: Starter supply of wood and coal provided (more can be bought locally).
Bed Linen and Towels: Bed linen and towels are provided for your stay.
