Ulva Ferry Explore the area, things to do and more

Oskamull is a beautifully finished, modern home, situated on the west coast of Mull. Set up on the hillside, the house has commanding views over Loch na Keal and the Isle of Ulva. If you’re looking for a room with a view for your holiday, this house has tons of them.

This is one of the only large holiday houses available in this dramatic and beautiful location on Mull's west coast. The property sits within a National Scenic Area and the small island of Inch Kenneth and the dramatic cliffs of Gribun can be seen from the house. With enormous windows and furniture positioned to capitalise on the sea views, this house will take your breath away.

The drive to the house is inspiring in itself as it takes you from the pier at Craignure, up the east coast of Mull and then across the island to the western coast before tracking around the edge of Loch na Keal. The loch is fringed by the rugged Ben More mountain range to the south, the highest on Mull, and to the north are lower, tree clad hills. The vistas are truly superb on a clear day, as is the wildlife. White-tailed eagles and otters can both be spotted around this loch.

Turning off the road, the private gravelled driveway to Oskamull brings you to the house. On the ground floor, there is a spacious hall with large windows and spectacular views. The house is beautifully furnished with a mix of contemporary and traditional furnishings, which have been thoughtfully matched. Framed pictures, lamps and antique furniture make the house feel homely while the natural light, large windows and modern fixtures make Oskamull contemporary and comfortable.

The open plan kitchen and dining area offers an excellent space for family meals with a view. The kitchen is well fitted with all you need for a self-catering holiday, with a contemporary country finish to the cabinets. On the opposite side of the hall, guests will find the comfortable and bright living room with a warming wood burning stove. Guests will also find a family bathroom on this floor, which features a shower, basin and w.c., as well as a large utility room with a washing machine, dryer and storage space.

The staircase leads to an impressive landing. Sink down into the two comfortable armchairs here, topped with tartan blankets, and soak up the sea and island views that they are so cleverly positioned to frame. This is also a great spot to read a book or to just take a moment to survey the island landscape. The four bedrooms lead off from the landing. The double bedroom is ensuite, as is one of the twin rooms. There are two further twin rooms and a family bathroom on this floor, with a bath, separate shower, basin and w.c. All bathrooms in the house are modern and well appointed. Bed linen and towels are provided for your stay.

From the doorstep, guests can explore the immediate surrounds, or walk to Ulva Ferry where the small ferry boat takes passengers to the Isle of Ulva during the summer months. On Ulva, guests can enjoy some fantastic marked walks. Tour boats also leave from here to visit the Treshnish Islands. It is a 20-minute drive to the village of Salen for the nearest shop, pub, post office and restaurant. Tobermory is a scenic 40-minute drive north, passing by Calgary bay and the village of Dervaig on the way.
