Second visit, still a very nice place to stay and in a perfect location but we feel the owners are just about doing the bare minimum to keep the house as a rental. We scratched both cars driving up to the house on arrival, spent the next two hours cutting all the brambles and bracken back. The TV is tiny and you have to rely on APPS to watch live TV which takes some doing if you are not tech savvy, not great with very slow broadband. The bed in main bedroom is far too small, barely a double and not comfy, easy get a king in there and they need another double room. Overall enjoyed our stay ????

We stayed in Oskamull in August with our family of four and friends. The house was exactly what we had hoped and offered us the best holiday. The views were to die for and beds very comfortable indeed. I loved the private drive up to the house. The house itself is well equipped and having the second fridge in the utility room worked a treat. The owners really seem to care about the house given the fresh exterior paint. We will be back!

The perfect family holiday house with an incredible view! We were 6 adults, 5 children under 4 and 2 dogs! The house is light, comfortable and well equipped - the second fridge is very handy! We had fabulous beach days, crabbing at Ulva Ferry, pony rides, soft play in Tobermory and some hiked up Ben More. After busy days we could come back and relax in front of the log burner too!

This was our second visit to Oskamull and it was just as wonderful as before. It is a lovely, spacious, warm, cosy and well-equipped home that is perfect for a large group or two families. Having four bathrooms is a complete luxury and the showers are great with lots of hot water available. The views of sea and mountains are spectacular - we spent lots of time gazing out of the windows in the upstairs sitting area, watching sunsets and stars. (The outside is a little tired since our last stay, but we didn't go there to look at the outside of the house!). Thank you for a wonderful holiday.

On arrival, the house was extremely tired looking, both outside & inside. What a poor first impression for such a handsome house in a beautiful setting. Disappointing levels of cleanliness, especially the kitchen. Having stayed in other Isle of Mull Cottages over the years, this was a let down.

Editor's Note: Note from the owner: Thank you for your feedback, we're very sorry the house didn't meet expectations for you and will arrange to have the exterior repainted before the 2024 season begins.

Glad inside was good as outside was tired and neglected which let it down. The House does have great views and is well equipped. Pointless bathroom area downstairs but hey ho.
Cosy. Spacious and ok but in desperate need of an external makeover. Better properties to go for on the Island so shop about

What an amazing place to stay. Oskamull cottage has everything you need. It is home from home with fantastic views. Although it feels quite remote which adds to the peace and tranquility, it is in fact fairly close to everywhere you would want to go. We had a superb week and will be returning.

Oskamull was perfect for our stay. 1 week with family, 6 adults, 1 child, 1 infant and 2 dogs. Very spacious with everything you need home from home. Great seating areas to take in the fantastic views. Very well equipped. We brought plenty food from mainland and cooked meals mostly.
    Our highlights were:
The boat trip ( Turus Mara to Treshnish/Staffa) from Ulva ferry port. Puffins, skuas, terns, dolphins…., and the skipper had some good patter lol. Trip to Iona. Calgary bay picnic- stunning location. Ben More climb - views back down on loch are stunning. Lunch at Tobermory.
    Thank you

Our second stay at Oskamull and every bit as good as the first visit. Took a wildlife tour with Andrew Tomison who runs Wildlife on Mull. He lives very close to Oskamull so was happy to collect us saving the trek to Salen where he usually starts. Saw all the usual suspects. Quite wonderful. The property was super clean and well cared for. The additional fridge a godsend in the warm weather. The only criticism being the tiny double bed in the master double. I’m well over 6 foot and it’s just far too small. Plenty of room for a king size or better still a super king.

A fabulous cottage in an excellent location for exploring Mull - and the views are second to none. The house is very spacious, light, bright, airy, clean and comfortable. It has all you could need and is very well appointed, including a lovely patio for watching the beautiful sunsets over Ulva. Great location for viewing the Sea Eagles, which we saw every day near to Killiecronan and along the coast - very special. There is delicious bread sold at a cottage near the turning to Dervaig - highly recommended. We absolutely loved Oskamull: a perfect place to unwind, relax and enjoy Mull. Thank you

Oskamull is a beautifully decorated and excellently equipped, spacious, dog-friendly house with spectacular views. The weather was kind so we enjoyed many walks, including out to Ulva. Previous visitors mentioned it's surprising how much you end up driving but Isle of Iona, Calgary Beach, Tobermory all very much worth it! Also saw sea eagles and an otter, birds and wildlife amazing. Oskamull was a lovely base to come back to. Spa at Salen very well stocked but did help to bring some things with us. Highly recommended.

We had a party of 8 (6 adullts) and the house comfortably fitted us all. Well equipped, warm and clean. Amazing views out to Sea. Loads to do if the weather is kind with Walks behind the house and Ulva pier and loads more walks 10mins away.. Surprising how much you end up driving on Mull. Some of us went sea kayaking in BenDoran water center on the south of Mull. Stock up in Oban Tesco as Island supermarkets have limited stock.

Thoroughly enjoyable stay in a large, spacious and well equipped property. We saw sea eagles and buzzards from the property and lots of wildlife across the island. Previous occupants left the house in a mess with bins overflowing so cleaner was behind schedule delaying our entry. Mull Cottages don't take a housekeeping deposit! No toiletries or pepper & salt provided. Exterior suffering from weather, interior fine. Strong smell of heating oil throughout. Some bulbs out including cooker hood. Would return.

Property was spacious and perfect for full capacity. Plenty of room for everyone not to get under each other's feet. Beds comfy and no issues with showers water pressure or hot water supply. Good central location on the island so close enough to Salen for shops and fuel. The views are breath takingly beautiful, panoramic and constantly changing. Would be nice if there were a couple more comfy chairs in the large hall (like the existing one) as that was the fave spot! I have stayed in multiple rentals on Mull for years and would recommend this house and would stay again! Thanks ????

Lovely comfortable cottage with stunning views.
Kitchen reasonably equipped could still be better with more fridge and freezer space, we struggled to fit in all our food even with the extra fridge in the utility. You are approx 20 mins from any shops so make sure you take everything you need.
Bedrooms comfortable and plenty of storage, but agree with earlier post that curtains could be better it’s very light until late in the evening.
Lovely landing with seating to have a quiet coffee and look at the views and the wildlife.
The whole of our family enjoyed our stay.

A lovely positioned property with beautiful views of Ulva Sound.. Abundant wildlife; we saw deer.in the garden, the white failed eagles, 48 species of birds were spotted from the property but alas no otters. Comfortable lounges, local maps and books, games and music for a rainy day. Very well positioned to take advantage of the local boat trips from Ulva Pier.

Oskamull is a really spacious & comfortable base for a holiday. The kitchen is really well set up & has everything needed for family cooking. The best equipped kitchen we’ve stayed in by far! The water systems worked really well both hot & cold! Windows & doors all fine & no issues. The sitting rooms are both very comfy after a busy day exploring the island. The only thing we would suggest would be better curtains in the bedrooms - due to the long hours of daylight. However that could just be us being used to blackout curtains! The location is truly amazing & we hope to be able to return!

We loved staying at Oskamull: the sea/mountain views are spectacular inside and out and there is so much space. Previous reviews have highlighted the hot water system as noisy and the fridge space not generous enough: the owners had clearly listened as there is now an upgraded water system which means no more noisy pump (we heard nothing whilst multiple hot taps were being run) and there is a small additional fridge provided in the utility room. Spotlessly clean on arrival too: cannot recommend staying here more highly!

The windows weren’t sealed properly and so the howling wind would keep us awake and also meant that the house was noisy constantly. The attic hatch flew up into the attic multiple times. The front door was broken on our arrival and none of the outside lights worked. The sink in the utility room doesn’t work and the utility floor was up and damaged. Customer service from Mull Cottages was terrible. The views were lovely but didn’t make up for the other issues sadly. Gutted we didn’t have a more enjoyable stay.

Editor's Note: Thank you for your feedback. As we said at the time, we would have been able to get the owner to address any problems, had you let us know about them on arrival but we were only alerted to them after departure. Oskamull is a lovely, warm and cosy house that is beautifully furnished. The communal areas are spacious and there's plenty of comfortable seating so everyone is not on top of one another. The views are spectacular and we had many a happy hour just staring out to sea. The kitchen is really well equipped and has everything you could need for baking or cooking a large spread. I agree with other reviewers that a second fridge would be useful and that the water system is a bit temperamental but it didn't affect our holiday - which was wonderful and relaxing.

The views from Oskamull are stunning and it's a big wonderful house. However TLC is needed. The plumbing needs addressing - very noisy and strangely, plenty of hot water just no cold so huge problems when you try to have a shower! The back bedroom could not be used because of the underlying smell from the drainage system. We had to keep this door shut at all times to prevent the smell from encroaching further into the property.
As other guests have said, a larger or second fridge/freezer is essential for this sized property.
It's such a shame because Oskamull has so much to offer!

The position of the house is stunning, wonderful views over the water and we saw some amazing sunsets. The house is very spacious and the furnishings are lovely throughout. Well equipped kitchen and great utility / drying room.
The house could really do with a second fridge, given the size of it and a BBQ would be good too. Water system is really noisy from the twin en-suite room, and this room was super hot due to the position of the hot water tank. The water pump system can cope with a couple of showers running at the same time but didn’t manage to cope with a bath.

Fantastic views and lovely comfortable house. We we were a family group of eight adults first after the lockdown so I guess that some of our problems with the cold water supply were due to the long break. Water pump in the twin with o suite was very noisy and we couldn’t run more than one shower at a time as the cold water just stopped from all the taps of a shower was on!
More shelving in some of the shower rooms would help and a larger fridge would really be a plus if the shopping remains problematical with Covid as it’s quite a trek for supplies we brought our own electric cool box !

Oskamull is a gem of a house in one of the most stunning settings in the Hebrides and it was a real privilege to experience this little piece of paradise for a week.
We saw eagles and peregrine falcons every day of our stay and loved the peace and tranquility of the place, the way the sunlight created a glittering mass of diamonds on the loch and how the clouds danced across the hills, creating an ever-changing picture.
However, It has to be said that most of the criticisms mentioned in other reviews - about aspects of the house which require attention - are valid points.
We still rate Oaskamull as a five star find though and if these points were addressed we would have scored it ten out of five for its unbeatable location.

The house is spacious and cosy but furnishings are tired (the sofas particularly so). It is interesting to note that our mini-gripes have all been previously noted (e.g noisy plumbing and a shortage of suitable glassware) but sadly not addresssed. On balance though, these are small issues. We had a great stay and Oskamull is an excellent base with incredible views; to continue to justify the weekly rent some of the fixtures and fittings will need a bit of updating.

This house is large, spacious, well equipped and has amazing views. Considering the fact that we had snow at the end of April, the house was warm and cosy and we didn't even need to light the wood-burning stove!
The kitchen is one of the best equipped we've had in 20+ years of renting cottages in Scotland.
Picking up on some of the previous comments: there are now wine glasses and plenty of other glasses. It is a squeeze to fit 8 adults at the dining table but just about manageable. There are few in mirrors in the house but for a group who are focused on the outdoors and cycling/walking this wasn't a big issue for us.
The noise from the boiler/water pump was a problem for those in the back bedroom so we had to avoid turning on taps or flushing looks whilst they were in bed, so if you have light sleepers in your group don't put them in this room.
However, none of this would put us off staying in the house again and I'd recommend it to others - the views are amazing!

There were Sea-Eagles around every day.Perigrine Falcons and Merlin.
There could be a few improvements such as mirrors and shelving in all the bathrooms.A wardrobe would have been better instead of the water tank in the twin en-suite as every time the toilet or tap was run it awoke guests in that room..

A really lovely house in an excellent location with absolutely gorgeous views. Plenty of wildlife to be seen on the doorstep - sea eagles aplenty!
The house was very spacious and comfortable but perhaps (if I'm being very picky) not quite as well equipped as we would expect - e.g. no mirrors/shelves/loo roll holders in the bathrooms and no (well, one) beer glasses.

A lovely spacious house with amazing views over Ulva and the bay. Great setting to explore this area of Mull. Spotted basking sharks and otters as our wildlife highlights, together with a couple of lovely walks on Ulva

Lovely large house with beautiful views. Mull, Iona and Ulva were beautiful! Unfortunately we had a bad start to our holiday when we had to wait outside in atrocious weather while the housekeeper finished cleaning - we were an hour earlier than arrival time but it might have been hospitable to let us in slightly early for a cup of tea to warm us up! House was let down by lack of storage for clothes in the second bedroom, a smell from drains in one of the en suites, poorly fitting curtains in the main bedroom, the kitchen table not being large enough for 8 people, no salad bowl and servers, no whisk, no proper wine glasses and some dirty paintwork. There is no garden to speak of and the garden furniture wasn't put out for us.(we had emailed beforehand to ask about outside seating) There was no barbecue either. I know I'm complaining but at this price I expect better and it wouldn't take much to make this house fantastic!

Editor's Note: We do ask guests not to arrive before the stated time of entry. The house was only finished last year so the paintwork was fresh at the start of the year. The plumbing problem was unexpected and has now been resolved and outdoor furniture wasn't on the property description (as we said), but has since been added.

Lovely warm, spacious house with fantastic views. Good spot for exploring NW Mull. Particularly enjoyed our trips to Ulva and excellent lunches! Definitely recommend Oskamull, in fact we are planning a return trip.

Excellent trip, with Turus Mara, from the Ulva ferry across to Staffa and the Treshnish Isles to see the puffins, also with Arthur of Discover Mull for bird watching. We felt the location was perfect for touring around the island. Bad weather for 3 days, snow, hail, sleet, but house was warm and cosy, although weather did not stop us from doing anything.

Group of eight of us stayed in April 2015 - excellent house for a big group, lots of space upstairs and downstairs, including a utility room which was great for wet coats and boots. House was warm and cosy - we lit a fire one night but didn't need to as the house is so well insulated! Enjoyed relaxed sociable meals in the big kitchen. Fantastic setting - with lots of windows so can see the views in all weathers. Some of the best views on Mull from the house - can see out over Ulva, down to Ben More and up the coast where there were some great sunsets. Highly recommended.

Family of 5 stayed April 2015, Oskamull is a fabulous, well equipped, spacious property with views to lose yourself in, Ben More, Ulva, across to Iona, probably some of our favourite views in Mull, and we even saw the Northern Lights! We would highly recommend staying here. Loved the deer in the garden at supper time, but visiting Ulva is probably one of the most special trips, seals galore, otters, deer and the most wonderful sense of times past.
