Things to Do
If you’re a birdwatcher, outdoor enthusiast or photographer, you’ll fall head over heels for Ulva Ferry’s wide range of habitats in a relatively small area. The mountains of central Mull dominate the southern shore of Loch na Keal, and the loch itself is rich in marine life. Pods of dolphins and even whales are seen here on occasion, as well as eagles, waders and divers. There is old woodland at the head of the loch and sloping uplands on the north shore, housing even more wildlife to discover.
It's a short walk from the house to Ulva Ferry where a small boat can be caught to the island. The Isle of Ulva is a beautiful little island with some fantastic marked walks and a small historical centre at Sheila's Cottage to visit. There are tour boats departing to the Treshnish islands from Ulva Ferry, which makes for a great day trip during your stay.
Heading up the north coast, guests can visit Lip na Cloiche with its beautiful gardens and crafts for sale as well, and there's also the excellent Black Beach to explore. You can reach this beach along a farm track through some picturesque old woodland.
