Things to Do
The small village of Pennyghael is approached from the west after crossing the River Leidle. There is a small hotel in the village, which usually serves evening meals to non-residents during the busier months (April to October); a community hall and post office/store which sells basic provisions.
This is a great area for those wanting to see birdlife, otters, seals and even passing porpoises and dolphins (if you are lucky!) as Loch Scridain is a haven for wildlife. Walkers, photographers and outdoor enthusiasts will be in their element. The starting point for a fantastic walk along the south coast at Carsaig is a five minute drive from the house, where there is mature woodland, dramatic cliffs and geology and a large sweeping bay.
Holidaymakers staying in this south western corner of the Isle of Mull have easy access to some beautiful white sandy beaches as well as boat trips to Iona, Staffa and the Treshnish islands which depart from Fionnphort (a twenty minute drive from the cottage).
