Things to Do

Heading east from the cottage a track leads through trees, alongside rocky coastline to Portfield beach (1.5 miles).

Another close locality to the cottage is Lochbuie (twenty minutes in the car). Surrounded by rugged mountains, the dramatic landscape here is breathtaking, no matter what time of year you come. There is a stunning freshwater loch (Loch Uisg) on the way to Lochbuie, a stone circle and mausoleum to visit, and The Old Post Office provides great coffee, cake and lunches in season. A walk around the coast from Lochbuie takes you to the large sweeping bay of Laggan Sands, and there is Moy Castle and some beautiful woodland to take in along the way.

Further afield, it will takes guests around an hour and a quarter to reach Tobermory from here and a similar amount of time to reach Fionnphort, where boats leave to Staffa, Iona and the Treshnish islands.
