An island escape just waiting for the buzz and laughter of a big family gathering or reunion among friends to fill its walls. Rowan Lea promises the warmest of Highland welcomes within a beautiful countryside setting immersed in nature, and yet within easy reach of the island’s main ferry port.
Set within a large, enclosed garden with an array of mature trees and shrubs, as well as parking for three to four vehicles, you can unpack and settle in with ease.
Entering Rowan Lea via a spacious porch for boots and coats, the hallway gives access to the large and varied living spaces on offer here. To the front of the house are two cosy sitting rooms, both with sea views, providing ample space for larger groups to spread out and enjoy the peace and quiet.
Overlooking the back garden and surrounding landscapes, the large open-plan kitchen, diner and third sitting area awaits – the true heart of the home. Filled with light thanks to a glazed gable end and triple aspect windows, this space feels incredibly inviting. Curl up with a good book, gather to prepare a feast with locally inspired ingredients, like venison off the hills, or simply enjoy breakfast while watching the garden birds with the patio doors thrown open.
Conveniently, guests will also find a utility room and ground floor bathroom on this level.
Venturing upstairs, Rowan Lea offers three beautifully appointed bedrooms, each benefitting from its own en-suite shower room. Each is well furnished with quality bedding and plenty of storage space to unpack and settle in for your stay. Both double bedrooms enjoy sea views, while the twin bedroom enjoys views over the garden and beyond to the meadows and woodland.
From the front door, a short walk brings you to a network of forestry trails that peel off into the hills, including a route that leads to a beautiful waterfall after a steady climb.
There’s also an excellent there-and-back coastal path from Garmony to Fishnish nearby, offering stunning views over the Sound of Mull and a great chance of spotting some of Mull’s ‘big five’ wildlife, including seals, otters and sea eagles.
Located only 10 minutes’ drive from Craignure, where the main ferry from Oban arrives, Rowan Lea offers easy access to amenities, with a small village shop, filling station, pub for evening meals and choice of cafes too. The central location means day trips to the Ross of Mull and over to Iona, or north to Tobermory, are also within easy reach, so you can explore all corners of the island.
