Fisherman’s Loft is located in the Isle of Mull’s south within the village of Bunessan, which sits at the head of Loch na Lathaich on the Ross of Mull. Sleeping up to four guests, this charming holiday apartment spans the top floor of the building, with excellent sea views and a light, contemporary feel. It's a welcoming space, with lots of natural wood used in the finishing touches, which gives the apartment character and warmth.
Guests enter into a porch at the bottom of the staircase which leads up to the rest of the accommodation. There is storage space for coats and walking boots here, and reaching the top of the staircase a large landing and hallway give access to all the other rooms. There is also a second external door here which opens directly to the excellent terrace, which is a lovely suntrap, with further paths leading to a small tiered garden area. This is a great place to sit with a morning coffee or indeed a bottle of wine in the evening.
The main living space is the hub of the accommodation and features high ceilings and dual aspect windows. It is a light and welcoming space with a rustic-chic interior style. There is comfortable seating and a wood burning stove for cosy evenings after a day of exploring. The dining table is well placed to make the most of the excellent sea views from this room to soak up over breakfast, lunch and dinner.
The bright fitted kitchen is well appointed and is perfectly equipped for self-catering, with modern appliances and everything you need to cook a meal for the family. Another window here provides another great lookout point to the harbour, where you can see small boats come and go from during the day. The sea loch is often busy with wildlife, with shore birds and seals frequenting the bay.
The master double bedroom is a good size and has plenty of storage with a large wardrobe, chest of drawers and dressing table, so that guests can unpack and relax on arrival. A quality mattress and and bedding are welcome additions too. A second bedroom has bunk beds and is decorated and furnished in keeping with the inviting style of the rest of the property. And of course, accenting the interiors of both bedrooms are superb sea views. The contemporary bathroom has a large shower unit, bath, basin and w.c, ideal for washing away any aches after a day in the hills, or simply whiling away an hour with total relaxation.
The Fisherman’s Loft makes for a wonderful, well appointed retreat to come back to after a day exploring the Isle of Mull, whilst being within easy reach of the village amenities. Dine out with ease with Reef just downstairs for great fish and chip suppers (seasonal), or the Bunessan Inn just along the waterfront serving hearty pub meals.
To the south of Bunessan you can explore some of Mull’s finest beaches, a range of white sandy bays and azure waters await! Some offer lovely sheltered waters for a swim in Hebridean waters, while others offer excellent opportunity to explore lesser known territory and perhaps even spot a sea eagle.
Fionnphort, the other nearby village, is the hopping off point for the island of Iona, as well as the place to catch boat trips that head to Staffa and the Treshnish Isles, so whether on land or sea, come rain or shine, brilliant memories are waiting to be made at the Fisherman's Loft.
