Dervaig Explore the area, things to do and more

Camus Cuin is an exceptional holiday cottage on the Isle of Mull’s north coast. Set in a beautiful and tranquil location beside the shore of Loch Cuin, this spacious property sleeps up to six guests in total comfort, with stunning sea views in abundance.

Located just under a mile from the centre of the village of Dervaig, towards the end of a quiet, single-track road, the house is positioned directly above the loch – simply follow the path from the garden down to the water.

There is ample parking for three or more cars in the large turning area to the rear of the property and secure storage available for kayaks and bikes, so you can enjoy a taste of adventure as you explore Mull by land or sea.

A light and spacious entrance hall sets the tone for the comfort to come at Camus Cuin. The clean, bright colours and contemporary furniture throughout the house, coupled with some lovely finishing touches, make this a really welcoming place to stay.

The hall leads to a dining area set beside a window, offering up the exceptional sea views to the front of the house. A pristine, modern kitchen affords ample space for meal preparation, with a handy porch/drying room directly adjoining with a second external door to the rear of the house. After a day’s exploration, you can return home, kick off your boots and step straight into the heart of the house, where a warming meal is just a few minutes away.

At the front of the property guests will find the living room, a fabulous space with exceptional views from the many large windows, which fill the space with natural light. Comfortable leather sofas and cosy soft furnishings invite you to make yourselves comfortable and stay a while, along with a great selection of books, DVDs and games to enjoy at the end of a day outdoors.

A telescope facing the water means you can take in the wildlife without even leaving the house. But if you do fancy some fresh air, large double doors slide open from the living room to give direct access to the large patio. Enclosed on three sides, this is a very sheltered space that is a fantastic suntrap – ideal for enjoying the scenery, eating outside or have a drink or two!

The bedrooms are all set on the same level of the house. The master double en-suite is a spacious room with a king-sized double bed; dressing table; excellent storage and amazing views over the water to wake up to. There is a great en-suite shower room with shower unit, basin and w.c.

The twin room is also spacious with built-in storage and dual aspect windows looking over the garden. The second double bedroom has a standard sized double bed and, being at the front of the house, also has fantastic sea views. The main family bathroom is a good size with bath, shower over the bath, basin and w.c.

Camus Cuin is one of those properties that has such a beautiful setting, it beckons you to simply sit back, relax and absorb your surrounds. The ever-changing waters of Loch Cuin provide interest, as does the abundant wildlife, including local otters and white-tailed eagles. The patio here is sure to become a favourite area and gardens extend to the front and sides of the cottage, providing lots of outdoor space to enjoy.

There are a selection of walks right on the doorstep too, with access to the Quinish Estate only a minute's walk away. Having the shoreline of the loch accessible from the garden is a fantastic bonus, where children can clamber on the rocks while you watch the tide rise and fall.
