You can walk straight from the cottage door to the beach!

Located beside one of the Isle of Mull’s best beaches at Calgary, on the island’s west coast, Calgary Bay Cottage sleeps six, making it perfect for families. Set just on the other side of the single track road, at the southern end of the beach, this detached cottage forms an ideal setting for a holiday by the sea.

This comfortable holiday cottage sits within an enclosed garden and there is ample parking space on the driveway for a couple of cars. Entering the cottage, guests will find plenty of storage space for belongings, and a hall that leads to the rest of the ground floor accommodation.

Calgary Bay Cottage has a welcoming and spacious open-plan living area on the ground floor. There is a wood burning stove in the seating area, a dining table well placed to take in the sea views, and a fitted kitchen with all the equipment you need for self-catering. Four windows let in plenty of natural light and there are a good selection of books and games to make use of here too. Please note there is no television signal at the cottage, but there are DVD players, a collection of discs and broadband to help entertain.

From the dining table you can enjoy lovely views of the beach, framed by the surrounding trees. Binoculars are also provided to help you identify any passing birds of prey. The kitchen is well equipped and you get a great view of the beach from the kitchen sink. You’ll still feel like you’re on holiday doing the dishes at Calgary Bay Cottage!

At one end of the ground floor hall, there is a double bedroom, which has an en-suite shower room. There is a second double bedroom at the opposite end and a family bathroom too. The bathroom features a bath, separate shower unit, basin and w.c. Both bedrooms are equipped with free standing furniture for personal belongings and bed linen and towels are provided for your stay. In addition, there is another cloakroom on this floor with a toilet, basin and a washing machine and dryer.

For younger children, you’ll find a purpose-built area in the hall with child sized chairs, perfect for a bit of craft work after they’ve collected their shells from the beach!

Upstairs there is a second seating area with an excellent selection of board games to play, books to read and lots of DVDs to watch. This is a very light space, which is ideal for getting a bit of peace and quiet or enjoying a game or two. There’s also a table and chairs here too, which is a useful place for catching up with emails etc. Directly adjoining this space is the twin bedroom, which again is comfortably furnished with views toward the sea.

Outside there is picnic bench for outdoor dining and a log store. Guests staying at Calgary Bay Cottage will love the fact you can walk straight to the beach from the cottage door and enjoy being in such lovely surroundings with the sea close by. It’s a truly idyllic setting.

It should be noted that Calgary Bay is a renowned location that many people visit and there is a camping area near Calgary Bay Cottage that can get busy at peak times.

Dervaig, the closest village to the house, is a 10-minute drive from the cottage and has a well-stocked shop, and the oldest inn on the Isle of Mull too. Tobermory, Mull’s main town is 30 minutes away by car and has a wide selection of shops and eateries to explore.

Heading south from Calgary Bay Cottage along Mull’s west coast you pass some lovely scenery with excellent views over Loch Tuath to the Isle of Ulva. Boat trips to Staffa and the Treshnish Isles can be taken from Ulva Ferry as well as Tobermory, ensuring you can enjoy an unforgettable island getaway.
