Bookend Cottage offers a truly unique place to stay on Mull. Credited with a Roses Design Award for excellence in design, this property has a superb layout, contemporary style and a very high standard of finish, which combine with its picturesque, historical location to make a very comfortable and relaxing environment in which to enjoy your holiday. The statement feature is the huge glass doors and balcony, which frame an unbeatable view down to the sea and Tobermory harbour.
A gate leads to the garden area from the pavement where there is a gravelled area leading up onto the south facing lawn, with a lovely view. Entering the cottage, the quality of design and creative use of space becomes apparent. There is a spacious cloakroom area with a corridor from which all sleeping accommodation and bathrooms lead off. At the end of the hall a staircase leads to an open plan living area.
The downstairs is largely finished in a ‘limed wood’ panelling, which gives a tactile, warm and bright feel to the space. The first double room with bunk beds has a nice layout and is ideal for a family. The bunk beds are a standard adult size and are built to a high standard. There is ample built-in storage space for personal belongings.
The main bathroom is again finished to a high standard. It is spacious, bright and features quality fixtures and fittings. The master double is a lovely room, with the same calm, relaxing feel, complemented by a superb ensuite bathroom with an excellent, large walk in shower cubicle, basin and w.c.
Heading upstairs to the open-plan living kitchen area, guests will be impressed by the beautiful space that the owners have created with solid oak flooring throughout, a high ceiling and thoughtful lighting. The plentiful windows bringing the outdoors into this warm and comfortable space.
The kitchen is very well equipped and features high quality appliances, including a combination oven/microwave, electric induction hob, fridge and freezer. The dining area helps the space flow into the main living area, where there is comfortable seating, a wood burning stove and beautiful views over the harbour. There is an office desk here too; a useful addition with wireless internet access provided.
The floor to ceiling double-glazed doors fold open to give access to the balcony, transforming the living area into a room that feels very connected with the outdoors. It’s a great spot for a glass of wine whilst the sun sets – one you’ll want to write home about!
Situated in the heart of Tobermory, Bookend Cottage gives guests easy access to much of the island capital's attractions, such as the Arts Centre; award winning restaurants; boutique shops; golf course; distillery and marine harbour visitor's centre. During the holiday season there are many boats that depart on a daily basis from the harbour for wildlife tours and whale watching trips. Kitchen: Dining table to seat six. The kitchen has an oven with induction hob, fridge, freezer, kettle, toaster and dishwasher, cafetiere.
Bedrooms: Queen sized double bed with two standard sized single bunk beds and further king sized bed in the master double.
Bathroom: Main bathroom with bath, shower over, basin and w.c., plus ensuite to the master double has a large walk in shower with basin and w.c.
Garden: Small lawned area with garden bench.
Heating: Electric heaters downstairs. Wood burning stove in the living room with a free supply of logs at the cottage.
Wood Burning Stove:Basket of logs provided at the cottage. More can be purchased via the housekeeper for £3.50 per bag if required.
Bed Linen and Towels: Bed linen and towels are provided.
