Our third visit to Ploughmans Cottage, another fantastic time, great weather and wonderful walks. Love the cosy cottage with the open fire. Well equipped kitchen. This year we took our air fryer which worked a treat. Thanks again to Mags the caretaker for doing a great job.

Spent a glorious fortnight at Ploughman's Cottage. The location is stunning, the cottage clean, beautifully equipped and laid out, and more homely than home. We were blessed with good weather to enjoy the beaches, sea and walks but there was a storm one evening and nothing could have been cosier than hot chocolate and games by the fire.
Wildlife is incredible - eagles, red deer, harriers, and quantities of toads, palmate newts, bats and small birds. Scoor Cave beach has the best rock pools I've ever come across with sea hares, urchins, anemones and starfish.

We had a lovely week at Ploughmans Cottage. I felt more at home there, than my own home...
It was nicely decorated, modern, well equipped, homely and clean. The garden was well maintained and a good size for the kids to play in after a day at the beach.
The cottage is situated in a rural position and just how we wanted it, the sun room is really lovely and I spent a lot of the time there, just looking at the view.
There are, a few beaches within walking distance and we saw many types of wildlife. We had a trip to Iona on the boat and that was nice with lovely scenery.

Well equipped cottage with ocean view. Although there are a few other cottages and holiday appartments nearby you only see the open landscape looking out the window. Several stunning and quiet beaches in walking distance.

We had a fab week in a lovely remote cottage which was well equipped, lovely sun room, brilliant garden to watch the wildlife, sheep on their daily walks and amazing sunsets. Two stunning & quiet beaches within walking distance and a short drive or cycle to Fionnphort for the ferry to Iona. We went to Traigh Ghael Beach which was well worth the walk. Lovely cafe “The Lazy Cow” on the turn off to Kintra. Will return soon, still so much more to see.

Incredible cottage in a peaceful idyllic setting. The facilities also supplement this wonderful cottage many an evening spent in the garden room viewing local wildlife from male hen harrier quartering the immediate marsh area to herds of red deer literally passing the cottage most evenings. Superb weather made local walks enjoyable to Shiaba the abandoned village beyond Scour house to the wonderful pristine beaches of Scour beach & Kilvickien beach. White tailed eagle golden eagle & otters seen around the island & birds aplenty, a sea tour is a must do to see the Treshnish isles @ Staffa

Wonderful place to stay, cottage was well equipped, warm and met all of our needs. The kitchen/sunroom is a great space to sit and relax and watch the herd of deer that are around most of the time. Scoor beach is wonderful, I lay there for a few hours one day watching golden eagles soaring overhead.
The track is a bit of a drag but it’s not a deal breaker, the peace, tranquility and wildlife makes it worth the journey. We made the most of the immediate area with lots of walks etc without having to use the car.

Gorgeous cottage located down a rough track. It took us ten mins to travel the couple of miles but definitely worth it and fine as long as you go slowly (our car was quite low too). There are stunning beaches within walking distance and views from all angles. We saw a herd of deer most evenings and the binoculars were a great help to see the wildlife. Our two girls (small) loved the upstairs space and shared the double bed, mind your head though. The cottage was cosy and warm. My favourite room was the kitchen/conservatory, I could sit there for hours.

Well equipped cottage with great short walks and abundant wildlife on the doorstep. Local facilities lacking when we visited, pub/Hotel closed for a refurb and the village Spar small and poorly stocked.
The track to the cottage is long and rough but should not deter visitors.

Another lovely visit to the Cottage, very warm and comfortable, lots of hot water and all the kitchen essentials. We did lots of great walks locally, saw the golden and sea eagles, watched the herd of deer from the cottage window everyday. The beaches are amazing and this year I managed Scoor Beach, it’s a climb but worth it.
We met daily with farmer James, while out walking , he pointed us in the right direction to see the wildlife. Excellent support from Mags the caretaker. It’s a wonderful remote location with great Wi-Fi and Netflix ????
By Ploughmans Cottage - a second brilliant visit stayed in March 2023
October in Mull is always a bit of a risk when it comes to the weather, and Ploughman's Cottage was a fantastic place to come back to after wet days exploring the great outdoors. The property was warm, light, thoughtfully laid out and had every gadget/utensil that you could possibly need. Enjoyed watching the deer on the hillside every morning whilst having breakfast in the sun room before heading out. Some nice walking and beautiful beaches to be visited from the doorstep.
Don't be put off by the comments about the road, it's not that bad.
A brilliant stay, highly recommended!

An amazing cottage, great for a peaceful get away and very close to the ferries to Iona, see the wildlife from the window every morning we seen deer, only downside is the road, we felt it limited you as once you went down the road we couldn’t come back and drop thing off then go out again, it’s once you're back, you're back, it is all potholes with some road, we found we were having to drive on the grass around them, and some bits with big rocks that could easily scrape the beneath of your car if not careful.

The cottage was absolutely lovely! It was clean, comfortable, well equipped and managed to be cosy and light and bright at the same time! We loved the conservatory area and the log burner (we had a cold wet week in June!). We found the track down to the cottage to be fine if you take it reasonably slowly, although we have a 4x4. The remote location and almost deserted beaches were amazing and all in all, this has to be one of the best holiday cottages we've ever stayed in.

Fabulous cottage and well equipped with everything you need. Wildlife around the cottage excellent. Often had Ted Deer close to the cottage. Hen Harriers and White Tailed Eagle very close to the cottage.
The track is absolutely disgraceful, very deep pits holes in abundance that need urgent attention.

A beautifully refurbished , warm and comfortable cottage with all the modern essentials.this light bright cottage has a wonderful sun room to take in the amazing views, we also sat outside on the patio. We had a wonderful week which was helped by wall to wall sunshine. We enjoyed the remote location, the wild life and the walking to remote beaches.

Ploughmans Cottage is absolutely fabulous and set in a stunning location teaming with wildlife. The cottage is really well laid out with an open plan cooks kitchen which has everything you could possibly need, a lovely lounge with a wood burner and the fantastic sun room with a super comfy sofa and extraordinary views! We saw buzzards, hen harriers and deer and don’t worry if you forget your binoculars as they have thought of everything! The bed is really comfortable and the whole cottage is immaculately clean and well maintained. Can’t recommend highly enough!!!

The cottage was even better than we could have imagined. The open plan living space meant that we could all be together whilst relaxing, playing games, cooking and eating.
The highlight being the location and walking distance to magnificent scoor beach!

Ploughmans cottage is beautiful; very peaceful location. The views are amazing and the property has everything you need. Its been designed really well and the sun room especially was amazing to chill out in! The island is stunning, with so much wildlife, sandy beaches, turquoise seas, loch's, mountains and forests! Honestly, it has everything!!
If your looking for shops and restaurants, then Mull is not for you. We took everything we needed and I would advise others to do the same.
Theres a lovely seafood shop just outside Tobermory, defo recommend for homecooking! :)

Ploughmans Cottage has everything for a perfect get away from it all break. One of the nicest cottages we have stayed in. Set is spectacular scenery, being able to watch the deer from the beautiful sun lounge in the mornings and amazing sun sets at night. Wonderful walks from the cottage, the local beaches are stunning. A visit to Iona is a must. The downside is the lane, 30 mins to get to the main road. Although it does state about the lane in the details, it is not really suitable for a normal car.

If you want a peaceful escape from city life, Ploughman's Cottage is the perfect location. It is a long way from anywhere, so do factor in total isolation, especially in the winter months when most restaurants on the island shut up shop. Come prepared to cook yourself and hunker down! Great meat at Ardalanish Weavers a few miles away from the cottage. We were lucky with the weather - went on fabulous walks without another soul in sight. Some great walks direct from the cottage itself - strongly recommend going to Ardalanish beach too, and a walk along The Burg peninsula from Tiroran Hotel.

Fab location - idyllic, peaceful. Main sound was ravens calling. Lovely walks and beautiful close-by beaches. Eagle lookout point below trig pt above Scoor beach - so superb views of an eagle one morning. We saw them 3 times out of 5/6 visits to this spot.
V well quipped cottage and we had a lovely stay. Sun room a great spot and we sat in the garden a fair bit too.
Would just say that the bumpy road would probably put me off booking here again - but this was clear in the details. You do have to factor this in re getting to ferries etc and basically going anywhere away from the cottage....

The cottages is very cosy and has got everything you need. The WiFi solution was not working fine on some of our devices. The location is spectacular with seascapes, beaches and nice but very wet walks. We.even went swimming on the most beautiful beach next to the cottage. The upper space and room is not appropriate at all for an average tall guest (our son ist 6 feet tall) and you have to notice that due to road conditions of the final 2 miles, it takes you 18 min from the main road to get to the cottage.

We visit Scotland every year in summer to escape the heat of France. This year my wife had proposed Mull, and Ploughman's cottage seduced us. I had personally been reticent to stay two weeks, but I'm happy to have agreed because I could have easily stayed for three.
We just LOVED our time on Mull and Iona. Between visits to golden beaches, the highland games, fishing, boat trips to see dolphins and whales, even snorkling, we had one of our best holidays ever.
The cottage was the perfect comfortable and peaceful base for us, a short trip from Fionnphort and Iona which we visited 4 times.

Very rural cottage. So peaceful and rugged scenery with great views from the property. Take your wellies because outside the property is very muddy. Cottage has comfortable beds and had everything we needed. We found the couches a bit on the soft side. No heating on when we arrived but we soon got it going and the log burner on.

Where to start? There are so many wonderful things to say. The location is spectacular with seascapes, beeches and coves you'd expect on a tropical island. The wildlife is mind blowing: eagles, hen harriers, seals, otters, porpoises and cuckoos everywhere. Every day was perfect whether we were island hopping, swimming in crystal seas, walking on the mountains or visiting the pubs and restaurants. The cottage was so comfortable, well equipped and beautifully finished. We slept like babies! Cannot wait to revisit. Thank you!
