Make Lochside your Hebridean holiday haven for a week or two of stunning sea views, a slow pace of life and some of the best boat trips on your doorstep. Lochside is a modern holiday cottage on the Isle of Mull, located along the shore of Loch na Lathaich on the Ross of Mull - a peninsular in the island’s south-western corner.

The drive to the cottage from Craignure is along a winding single track road, passing through some beautiful mountainous scenery. As you drive from the ferry you’ll pass by hills, lochs, mountains and forests – you might even spot the odd waterfall on the way! On the final stretch, the road follows the shore of Loch Scridain, and when you turn off towards Ardtun, you feel a long way from the hustle and bustle of the mainland. The coastal setting of this cottage on the outskirts of Bunessan is perfect for those looking for peace and relaxation in a beautiful Hebridean setting.

Turning off the road to Lochside there is private parking to the rear of the cottage for two cars. The parking space is shared with the adjoining cottage next door, but each cottage has its own separate fenced garden to the front.

You enter the property via the porch, which has useful storage space for coats and boats. A long hallway then leads to the rest of the accommodation. The main living area is a lovely space, with lots of natural light and fantastic sea views over the Loch and little skerries and islands that shelter the bay. The neutral decor and clean, contemporary style make this a lovely room to relax in.

The sitting area has comfortable, leather sofas. The sofas are perfectly positioned to open up the sea view, which makes it all too easy for minutes to turn into hours there before you know it! Double doors can be opened out onto the raised decking and steps lead down to the garden. Make the most of a sunny day sitting out here, with nothing between you and the fresh, salty sea as the sun dips below the wide, open horizon. A selection of board games and books about the local area are provided, along with a television and DVD player. There is a dining table that comfortably seats six and there is quality tableware provided for meal times.

The stylish kitchen is well-equipped for self-catering and there is a side door leading to the garden. The warm wooden flooring in the living area carries through into the double bedroom and twin bedroom, which both benefit from built-in wardrobes, dressing tables and bedside tables. The family bathroom is well-appointed with a superb walk-in shower unit, bath, basin and w.c.

Lochside is an excellent self-catering cottage on Mull for those wanting quality modern comforts and great views. The house is well insulated and has electric heating throughout. The sunsets here are wonderful and the loch is a haven for wildlife too.

The village of Bunessan, which is a 10-minute walk from the house, has shops, a public house and the Ross of Mull Historical Centre. There are some fantastic white sandy beaches within a 10-minute drive of Eorabus, and there are great walking opportunities from the doorstep. Pottering along the rocky shoreline by the house, there are a variety of birds to be seen, from common waders to the sea eagles the island is well known for (and otters too if you are lucky).

Boat trips can be taken from nearby Fionnphort to both Staffa, with its fantastic basalt columns, and the small archipelago of the Treshnish Isles. Iona is a great day trip too, where you can visit the historic Abbey, get lunch in one of the hotels or tearoom and explore the beaches and coastline on foot or by bike.
