Tobermory Explore the area, things to do and more

Watch the sunrise over the mountains of the mainland with its rays reflected beautifully in the still harbour waters; take a road trip across the island in search of hidden beaches; or set sail to surrounding islands from the Tobermory pontoons. Listen to live music late into the evening in one of the lively local inns, or cosy up in the apartment and watch the harbour lights reflected in the water.

A holiday at The Distillery Rooms invites you to immerse yourself in Mull’s scenery, food and culture, based in luxurious sea view accommodation in the vibrant island capital.

Descend the hill towards Tobermory harbour and just after you pass the famed whisky distillery and glimpse the sea ahead, you’ve reached your home for the week. Park with ease with the private space for one car allocated outside the property, then ascend the stairs to your top floor apartment.

Entering the apartment into the open plan living and dining space, your eyes will instantly wander to the window, which beautifully frames the view over the bay. The plush sofa and armchair encourage you to sink into them and drift into the slower pace of island living, and a 28-inch smart HD television, DVD player and fast broadband connection make for great nights in.

Perfectly positioned beside another large window is the sociable breakfast bar with stools crafted from reclaimed whisky barrels. It’s an accent you’ll find throughout the apartment, from the clock on the wall to the side tables too, enhanced by a range of lighting options, from spotlights to atmospheric lamps and LED strip lighting too. From your bird’s eye position, you can enjoy breakfast as you watch the Main Street wake up and fishing boats come and go.

Semi-open plan, the kitchen is located just beside the dining area with similarly colourful views over the harbourfront buildings. Beautifully finished to a high standard, the space is well equipped with under-cabinet lighting to make meal preparation effortless. So, if you can resist the temptation of the eateries lining the Main Street, you’ll find all you need to prepare homecooked meals here, with everything from the electric oven and hob to baking equipment and a hand blender provided.

The apartment benefits from two beautifully furnished bedrooms, both of which are bathed in natural light by day and cocooned from the long Hebridean nights by black out blinds at night. The master double featured a standard sized double bed with views onto the neighbouring whisky distillery and a built-in wardrobe for convenient storage. The second double is a cosier room, again with distillery views and a built-in wardrobe, with a small double bed.

A contemporary shower room complete with heated towel rail, W.C, basin and walk-in shower serves both bedrooms, with complimentary Isle of Mull Soap provided, which is made only a few metres from the apartment!

The harbourfront location of The Distillery Rooms makes it the perfect choice for those wanting to experience the island's wide range of attractions. Get a cultural fix with the theatre and art galleries close by and don't miss a visit to the Tobermory Distillery for a tour and tasting next door. Explore the coast with dramatic walks to the lighthouse in one direction and the waterfalls and old fishing pier at Aros Park in the other. Indulge in locally landed shellfish and seafood and sample the local spirits in the lively inns, before enjoying a peaceful walk along the harbour back to your home from home.

For those who are keen to hit the road, Mull's miles of single-track lanes that navigate mountains, loch shores and woodland will certainly impress. Pack a flask of coffee, call into a café for some sweet treats and enjoy an island road trip in a day - there are many brilliant viewpoints for you to pull up and enjoy the scenery, or encounter the local wildlife as you go.

Boat trips to Mull's surrounding islands are also a must, with the chance to see basalt columns at Fingal's Cave, puffins nesting in season and even be joined by dolphins on the journey. However you imagine them, let the adventures begin at The Distillery Rooms.
