This cosy coastal cottage invites guests to enjoy total tranquillity, a secluded setting and spellbinding hill and sea views…
Cnoc Deaghuinn is situated on the Isle of Mull’s north coast along the single track road to Croig, where there are stunning sandy beaches and fantastic views to the north and of the islands of Rum, Eigg and Skye.
The cottage is reached via a short track and sits within a large enclosed garden, which has a picnic bench for outdoor dining, where you can take in the setting. The house is very private and it is not overlooked by any other property.
Entering Cnoc Deaghuinn, it becomes immediately clear that much care and thought has gone into making this an attractive and welcoming holiday home. There is a timber porch with plenty of space to store belongings, and from here you enter the hall - a lovely space with artwork, seating, guide books and maps.
The living area is an open plan space, combining the seating area and kitchen, and benefits from lots of natural light and views to the hills. There is plenty of comfortable seating and a cosy wood stove – great for winter evenings. There are many beautiful paintings and pieces of artwork on display and the crisp colour scheme with neutral colours and accents of blue creates a calm ambience, giving the house an inviting coastal theme.
The kitchen is very well-equipped with the sort of quality cookware and knives that make preparing a meal a simple task. A raised counter creates a sense of separation from the living room, but makes sure that the ‘chef’ is never too far from the family fun! A separate dining room has a large solid oak dining table that comfortably seats six. This is a lovely room to enjoy a meal in and there is a very good selection of board games to play here too.
A double bedroom also takes pride of place on the ground floor. This is a large room with solid pine flooring, lots of storage space and lovely views towards the hills behind the house. There is a bathroom on the ground floor with w.c. basin, and bath with shower head over.
From the kitchen is a utility area with washing machine, dryer, and door to the rear garden.
A staircase leads upstairs to a bright landing area, where guests will find a further double bedroom, one twin bedroom and a bathroom. The king sized double bedroom is a beautiful room with lots of natural light, complementary furnishings and views of the countryside. The twin bedroom is another light and beautifully furnished room, with quality bedding and linen provided. The bathroom has a shower unit, basin and w.c.
Walking from Cnoc Deaghuinn, you can explore the lovely sandy bays at Croig, one mile away, or head out to the larger white sandy beach at Port na Ba (around thirty minutes' walk away). Also within five minutes’ walking distance is an excellent family run restaurant (Am Birlinn), which serves local produce and is licensed too. Dervaig, the closest village, has a well-stocked shop, village pub and restaurant, Ar Bord. The well-known Calgary beach is also just a short drive away by car.
